Pharaoh Tamose is mortally wounded during an attack on the city of Luxor. Taita, ex-slave and now general of Pharaoh Tamose’s armies, successfully defends the city. But on his return to Luxor, Pharaoh Utteric – young, weak and cruel – has seized power. He imprisons Taita and brands him a traitor. Will Ramases, Utteric’s younger and worthier brother, help Taita escape, forsaking his brother, or will he stay silent and condone Utteric’s tyranny?
