The Mathematics Teacher’s Guide contains a year plan, the term plans, possible time schedules for a full week and daily step-by-step lessons for each day in the teaching plans for 40 weeks. The teaching plans include the following: the weekly teaching plan, hints and essential information as background knowledge before the lessons are tackled, and guidance on how to complete the prescribed assessment tasks. The CD in the Teacher’s Guide contains the year and term plans, so that the teacher can print it out and keep it at hand, resources for teacher and learner, prescribed worksheets, and the assessment forms and rubrics. The guide provides guidances to teaching mathematics to Grade 1 learners – how to teach data handling, shapes and objects, counting from 0-20, simple addition and subtraction calculations, spider sums and house sums. The activities in the lesson plans are done in coordination with the Learner’s Book and the worksheets on the CD. It is CAPS compliant.
